Seachem Matrix 500g is a premium high-porosity biological filter media designed to provide exceptional biological filtration in freshwater, marine, and reef aquariums. Its highly porous structure creates the ideal environment for beneficial bacteria that naturally remove ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, helping maintain healthy and stable water conditions.

Each Matrix granule has a diameter of approximately 10 mm and features an intricate network of internal pores that support both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. This allows the media to perform both nitrification and denitrification, delivering complete biological filtration within a single filter media.

One litre of Matrix provides an incredible 700 m² of biological surface area, equivalent to approximately 170 litres of plastic bio-balls, offering outstanding filtration performance in a compact volume.

Unlike many biological filter media, Matrix is chemically inert, will not break down over time, and does not require replacement. Simply rinse the media during routine maintenance to remove accumulated debris while preserving beneficial bacteria.
