Seachem De❊nitrate 500ml – Natural Biological Filter Media for Nitrate Reduction

Seachem De❊nitrate 500ml is a highly porous biological filter media designed to promote both nitrification and denitrification in freshwater and marine aquariums. Its unique natural structure provides an enormous surface area for beneficial bacteria, helping to reduce nitrate levels naturally while maintaining excellent biological filtration.

The media contains a carefully balanced pore structure that supports aerobic bacteria on the outer surfaces and anaerobic bacteria deep within the granules. This allows De❊nitrate to convert harmful nitrogen compounds efficiently, reducing nitrate levels when used under the correct flow conditions.

For maximum nitrate reduction, the media should be placed in a filter where the water flow does not exceed 200 l/h, allowing anaerobic bacteria to thrive. At higher flow rates, De❊nitrate functions as a highly effective biological filter media for nitrification.

One 500ml container is suitable for treating approximately 100–200 litres of aquarium water, depending on stocking levels and nitrate concentration.

Directions for Use

1. Rinse the media thoroughly before use.
2. Place it in an area of the filter with controlled water flow.
3. For effective nitrate removal, maintain a flow rate of less than 200 l/h.
4. If lower flow cannot be achieved, Seachem recommends using Matrix or Pond Matrix instead.
5. Nitrate levels should begin to decrease within several days.
6. For best results with high nitrate levels, first reduce nitrates through partial water changes before using De❊nitrate.
