The Aqua Nova NSF-40L Sponge Filter is a compact and reliable air-driven aquarium filter designed for freshwater, marine, shrimp, breeding, and fry aquariums up to 40 litres. Powered by an external air pump (not included), it provides effective mechanical and biological filtration while producing a gentle water flow that is safe for even the most delicate aquarium inhabitants.

The large synthetic sponge efficiently traps uneaten food, plant debris, and suspended particles, while its porous structure creates an ideal environment for beneficial nitrifying bacteria. These bacteria naturally break down harmful ammonia and nitrites, helping to maintain healthy and stable water conditions.

The NSF-40L is an excellent choice for shrimp aquariums, breeding tanks, spawning tanks, fry grow-out aquariums, discus breeding setups, quarantine tanks, and nano aquariums. The sponge also supports the growth of microorganisms that serve as a natural food source for shrimp and young fish.

Installation is quick and simple. Just connect the filter to a standard 4/6 mm airline and an external air pump (sold separately). For additional protection, it is recommended to use an airline check valve (not included) to prevent water from siphoning into the air pump during power outages.

The adjustable outlet tube allows you to position the water outlet according to the aquarium’s water level, ensuring efficient circulation.
